Lemon water has recently become a hot topic in the health and wellness community. You may hear that drinking it can prove to be extremely effective in weight loss, disease prevention, anti-aging and so much more. Well, the rumors are true! If there is one thing I always recommend to friends, family or clients it’s to start each morning off with a warm cup of lemon water. Why? It is simply the easiest and most effective way to kick off a healthier day, healthier week, and a healthier life.

10 Health Benefits of Drinking Lemon Water

-Immune System Booster: Lemon is a natural and rich source of vital nutrients like calcium, potassium, iron, vitamin A and of course Vitamin C. Disease prevention is all about building and maintaining a strong immune system to fight off daily toxins our bodies are exposed to in our environment and our food.

-Wakes up the body’s organs: Lemon water in the morning helps wake up the body’s organs to get us prepared for the day. As opposed to waking up and shoveling breakfast down our throats, its important to understand that our body is still waking up despite the fact that we are already up and functioning, lemon water in the morning before breakfast helps prep the digestive system for the day.

-Rids the body of toxins: While we are sleeping, our bodies are still hard at work flushing out daily toxins we are exposed to. Lemon water helps aid this process and make it easier for our bodies to do the work needed to detoxify.

-Powerful anti-inflammatory: Inflammation is the root of all disease. Inflammation in our body, joints, and organs can not only be painful but can lead to diseases like cancer, alzheimer’s, and diabetes. Warm lemon water in the morning or during the day helps reduce inflammation throughout our body, joints and muscles by dissolving uric acid; again lowering our risk of disease.

-Strengthens the liver: Our liver is one of the most important organs often to go unnoticed in western medicine. Our livers are responsible for detoxifying our bodies, if our liver is off, our health is off. Lemon water strengthens the liver by providing energy to liver enzymes when they are too diluted. *Lemon water is also an excellent natural, pharmaceutical free hangover cure!

-Healthy skin promoter and anti-aging: Lemon water aids in healthy cell production, keeping us looking and feeling youthful. Due to it’s high level of vitamin C, lemon water destroys free radicals in our bodies that lead to wrinkles, acne and other common skin issues.

-Strong digestive aid: Lemon water aids the digestive system by promoting the production of bile which helps break down food in our bodies. This is why the best time to drink lemon water is in the morning before you eat anything!

-Promotes weight loss: Researchers have found that drinking lemon water, especially in the morning, helped increase the metabolic rates in both men and women. Lemon water in the morning can also help control appetite and prevent overeating.

-Nourishes healthy brain function: Due to the high potassium content of lemon juice, lemon water in the morning will help to alert the brain and nourish nerve cells.

-Flu Buster and Common Cold Curer: As already mentioned, lemons contain a ton of useful vitamin C to help support healthy immune function. To avoid the flu or any type of common cold, lemon water can help fight off sickness due to its powerful anti-bacterial properties. A little lemon water and apple cider vinegar, the common cold won’t stand a chance!

Warm lemon water, ideally first thing in the morning, is the perfect first step towards long term health and wellness. Packed with plenty of goodness, Vitamin C, anti-aging benefits, and disease preventing properties (and so much more!!), lemon water is clean chick certified to help you kick off a healthier lifestyle!
