Powerful Detox Beet Salad

PURE DETOX, ANTI-CANCER, ANTIOXIDANTS POWER HERE!

This salad recipe contains a few of my favorite, heavy hitter detox ingredients. Beets, cilantro, red onion and pumpkin seeds. Nutritional deliciousness, with a punch.

Health Benefits of Beets:

Beets help to lower blood pressure. According to Dr. Mercola, beets contain naturally occurring nitrates, which are converted into nitric oxide in your body. Nitric oxide, in turn, helps to relax and dilate your blood vessels, improving blood flow and lowering blood pressure.

Beets help to fight inflammation in the body. Many of you may know, inflammation is the root of all disease, particularly in the digestive system. It turns out, beets are a unique source of betaine, a nutrient that helps protects cells, proteins, and enzymes from environmental stress.

Beets contain anti-cancer properties. With mindful lifestyle chances like choosing a plant based, whole foods diet, chances of cancer are significantly decreased. Beets contain powerful phytonutrients which have been known to help fight and eliminate chances of certain cancers like pancreatic, breast and prostate cancers. Beet root has been shown to decrease tumor formation in animals.

Beets help to detox the blood and liver. When beets are broken down in the body, they can attach to cancer causing heavy metals in the body and help to remove them out of the body.

Health Benefits of Red Onion:

Red onions are packed with a bioflavonoid called quercetin. Quercetin helps to eliminate the build of free-radicals and toxins in the body. Red onions contain a high amount of antioxidants, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties thus preventing inflammations like cancers, intestinal polyps, and cold sores.

Powerful Detox Beet Salad
Ingredients:

-4 medium sized organic, cooked beets
   To cook beets simply boil in water until fork tender, about 30-40 minutes
-1/2 chopped red onion
-1 handful of organic cilantro
-Toasted pumpkin seeds
To toast pumpkin seeds, simply line baking sheet, drizzle olive oil and desired spices and       bake for 15-20 minutes
-1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
-1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
-sprinkle of salt and pepper

Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients into a bowl and mix well
2. Allow salad to chill/sit for about 10 minutes to allow ingredients to soak up ACV + EVOO
3. ENJOY!
